The Goodbye Multiply

As most of the online shops in the country, Party Impressions, my online business, started out in Multiply.com last 2009. It was the perfect platform to showcase my products and communicate with my clients. I even commissioned someone to customize my site since Multiply allowed us to practically do anything we want. This is why every online seller loved Multiply.com. Multiply helped me grow my business. Thus, when Multiply announced that they were moving to a completely e-commerce platform last year, I got pretty excited. Multiply even created a big hype about it. I was expecting major improvements.

However, when the much talked about new platform arrived, it was a huge bust. My site's customization disappeared. It turned into something Amazon-ish, which was fine. But, some of my clients could not even access my site.

Given that it's a new platform, I was somewhat forgiving. Maybe there were just bugs that needed to be fixed, I thought. Well, I thought wrong. Weeks came by and still nothing, Multiply.com was quiet. Yesterday, the inevitable finally happened. I received an e-mail from Jack Madrid, Multiply.com's Country Manager, stating that Multiply is closing for good. You can read Jack's e-mail below.

Multiply.com
Dear Multiply Merchant,
We regret to inform you that Multiply will be closing the marketplace on May 6, 2013 and discontinuing all business operations by May 31, 2013.
Multiply will maintain normal site operations through May 6th and will wind things down through to the end of the month. We will use the rest of May to make sure that all accounts are settled and that you receive all funds you earned on the platform. We hope this provides you time needed to identify and migrate to alternative ecommerce platforms, settle all payments on items bought and delivered, and try to minimize disruption to your business.
In order to ensure that all your earnings are disbursed to you in full prior to May 31, we will cut off buying activity on May 6, 2013. This will ensure that all orders have sufficient time to be completed and delivered to your customers before the end of the month.
If you have a Trust Badge, please contact our customer support team and we will ensure that you receive a pro-rated refund for the remaining time on your subscription.
If my team can be of any assistance to you during this transition, we will do our best to help.
Respectfully yours,
Jack Madrid Multiply Country Manager – Philippines
It's kinda disappointing how Multiply came to an end. It was the perfect platform until all the changes happened. Oh well, you know what they say, all good things come to an end. Goodbye Multiply! Thank you!

Are you an online seller? Do you have a Multiply store?
To what platform are you moving?
I'd love to hear from you.

Anxious Nervous or Anxious Excited?

If you're familiar with my title, It's because it's a reference to a line from the movie, The Parent Trap. It's when the mom asked Lindsay Lohan if her dad was dreading to see her or looking forward to it. And I think this title fits this blog post.

Today marks a new milestone in the road to getting the M.D. attached to my name. Finally, I leave the four corners of my classroom and get thrown into the pit, the actual hospital setting. Why? For today is my first day as a medical clerk or junior intern.

As some of you may know, Jr. Internship or Medical Clerkship is the last year of medical school before you graduate. And as a Jr. Intern, I now belong at the bottom of the medical food chain.

I'm kinda scared of screwing up since I will be dealing with real patients now. There are so many "what if's" that are running through my mind. Like, what if I give the patient a wrong medicine? What if I diagnose the patient wrong? Or worst, what if someone dies under my watch? Of course, there will be residents and consultants who will be supervising us to make sure those would not happen. But still, I can't help but worry.

Medical clerkship is also exciting. Afterall, I've been waiting for this since the day that I decided that I wanted to become a doctor. It's exciting because finally, I get to practice what I've been taught throughout all the years I've been in med school. And everything that I've been reading in those thick medical books, I'll get see in the actual setting now. It's like I'm almost a doctor but not quite there yet, you know what I mean? This thought makes me giddy.

So what am more? Anxious nervous or anxious excited? Well, I am really looking forward to this new learning experience and as Lindsay Lohan answered in the film, "Anxious excited, definitely!"

P.S. Voting for Voiceboks.com for Top Mom Blog is still open. If you like my blog, you can vote for it on my Voicebok page and clicking the Facebook like button. Thanks.

An Afternoon at Tagaytay Sky Ranch

Every year on Holy Week, we go to Batangas to be with my side of the family. This year before heading home to my province, we decided to meet with the family and try the newly opened amusement park in Tagaytay City. Tagaytay Sky Ranch was opened just last month by SM.

From the outside you already get to see the Tagaytay Eye or Sky Eye, the country's largest ferris wheel to date. It's the park's main attraction.

To get in, you have to pay the entrance fee of P50. You have to pay for the individual rides once you get inside if you want to try them. The rides cost P50-150. They don't have ride-all-you-can passes yet.

The first ride that we went on was the Super Viking. It's similar to Anchors Away in Enchanted Kingdom. I do think the ship here in Sky Ranch swings higher though. Aside from the thrill that you get from each swing, an added bonus is you get to have an amazing view of the Taal Lake once the ship reaches its highest point. But, that is if you can keep your eyes open.

from my Instagram account
Henry and my little sibs, had a tour of the whole park by taking the Express Train. This ride has the second longest line in the park next to the Sky Eye.

Henry wanted to ride the Super Viking, but, due to the height limit he wasn't allowed to yet. (And I wouldn't let him anyway.) Good thing there was the Little Viking. My little brother went with him, being the good tito that he is. And it looked like they both had a great time on it.

Next to the Little Viking was the Nessi Coaster, the only roller coaster inside the park for now. (they're building a bigger one right next to it.) As soon as Henry saw it, he ran and went to line up for it. He's never been on a roller coaster before so I was a bit apprehensive at first. But as soon as the attendant said that he can ride it, I immediately bought tickets for us.

The little boy was so brave, we even got on the first cart. He surprised me when he raised him arms while the roller coaster was speeding its downhill tracks.

Weeeee!
After this ride, we were all famished. There are no restaurants yet in Sky Ranch and only a few food stalls were present which means it was time to go. We left the place without going on the Sky Eye. Sayang! I wanted to see the view from the ferris wheel, but I'm sure that there's still a next time. There are also other rides that we haven't been in yet so for sure we are coming back.

Sky Ranch is located along Aguinaldo Highway near the Taal Vista Hotel. For more info, visit their Facebook page.

What about you? Where have you been this summer?
Any nice places that you can recommend for families with little kids?

A Blogging Milestone: My First Blog Award Nomination

This blog started almost 6 months ago when I was on semestral break. I was looking for something to do while I waited for my little boy to come home from school. I wanted to document my journey as a mom, juggling between medical school and my family life. I would have loved to create a scrapbook or a journal. But since I always take my photos on my phone, I figured it would be best to upload it to an online platform.

And although I know that some people read my blog, I never thought that I was actually reaching out and influencing others. Sure, I join blog hops here and there, but I didn't see that someone would find my blog relevant (except for me, of course). That is until I read this e-mail last weekend.

Can you believe it?! My blog is nominated for a spot on Voiceboks' Top 10 Mom Blogs list for 2013 and has been already included in Voiceboks' Top 50 Mom Blogs! I find it such an honor just to be nominated and this alone already makes me feel like a winner. To whoever nominated me, thank you! Thank you very much!

This is a wake up call for me to write better contents, and to simply just write better (correct use of punctuations, no more fragments and the right grammar). My first step into achieving this goal is by attending Blog Inspired, a blogging seminar which includes my favorite mom bloggers, Martine and Jayme, as speakers.

I am so lucky that I got a slot before it ran out. I'm sure a lot of mom bloggers here in the Philippines signed up for it.

Another event that I am so excited about is my first blog conference that I am attending ONLINE courtesy of The Blog Workshop. Here I plan to learn the ins and outs of blogging more deeply. They have a great agenda and fabulous speakers are in the line up.

I am really looking forward to these 2 great events. And hopefully I will become a better blogger after these.

If you like my blog, I hope that you can show your support and vote for it to be included in Voiceboks' Top 10 Mom Blogs of 2013. To vote, visit my Voiceboks page and click on the Like Button under "Henry's Mom Blogs". Thanks in advance!

Click on the photo to go to my Voiceboks page.

P.S. It takes a while for the Like button to show up. Please be patient. Thanks.
